If you loved our vegan fried chicken restaurant review a few weeks ago, well you are going to love this….a new monthly vegan market is coming to Hackney Downs starting this Saturday.
The person behind our new favourite market is Fat Gay Vegan (AKA: Sean O’Callaghan) and comes after the successful Vegan Christmas market which he organised last year.
Fat Gay Vegan has partnered with Eat Work Art to launch this exciting first for London.
Lines for stalls at the Vegan Christmas Market were huge, so make sure you get down there nice and early for the latest in Vegan naughtiness. Think burgers, doughnuts, Mexican burritos and chocolate….all Vegan of course!
The Temple of Hackney will be launching a vegan Cheeseburger and Double BBQ Bacon Burger, only available at the vegan market.
Other stall holders are equally as drool-worth.
Stall list for Saturday March 18, 2017 is as follows:
Young Vegans – pie and mash, with a sweet offering of gluten free brownies
Peanut Butter Bakery – decadent freshly cooked donuts
Big V London – gourmet burgers and sweet potato fries famous south of the river
Vegan Delice – cupcakes, tray bakes and biscuit maker with a loyal and loving following
Crawl Arts – up-cycled clothing with environmental illustrations
Rupert’s Street – healthy, seasonal food that has been locally sourced
Temple of Seitan – champions of vegan London are debuting a dirty cheeseburger!
Club Mexicana – BBQ pulled jackfruit tacos and burritos, loaded cheesy nachos and beer-battered cheese fries
Café SoVegan – seitan burgers with all the trimmings, mac and cheese and cheesecakes
GreenBay Supermarket – chocolate bars, whipped cream, marshmallows and assorted vegan snacks/groceries
And this market doesn’t just champion vegans.
Fat Gay Vegan has had this to say on their picking policy; ‘Hackney Downs Vegan Market has an inclusive policy when it comes to selecting traders.’
‘Preference is given to vendors who identify as BME, women, LGBTQ and/or people with disabilities.
‘The market has been designed not only to meet the overwhelming desire for quality vegan food and events in London, but to give independent traders an opportunity to sell to a large number of niche customers. When vegan food stalls trade at non-vegan markets, they are often struggling to find enough people willing to sample their cuisine.
Fat Gay Vegan has been running his extremely popular blog since December 2010 and he was instrumental in organising the legendary London Vegan Beer Fest, which is set to celebrate its 5th year at Hackney Downs Studios this summer.
Needless to say, this event is pegged to be a huge success.
The market will take place on 18 March, 11 AM – 5 PM at Hackney Downs Studio, Amhurst Terrace, London, E8 2, United Kingdom.
If the lines are anything like last time, you’d better get in early!
