Pesto is like a green splodge of joy that you can whack onto almost anything to make it taste good.

But it’s not vegan!!! It contains parmesan which we all know is not the vegan way…


Shop-bought vegan pesto is an option, and here at Easy Vegan we like to cut corners too.

It’s not worth cutting corners though when you subject your precious taste buds to disgustingness.



So until there is an adequate supermarket alternative, join me on this journey to make delicious non-vegan tasting pesto.

What you’ll need…

2 cups of basil (squished all the way in)

1/2 cup of pine nuts

1 clove of garlic (2 if you’re feeling hard)

1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Squeeze of lemon juice

3 tablespoons of nutritional yeast


What sorcery is this???? Yeast?

Don’t get weird about it 🙂 It’s your first port of call for all your cheesy tasting needs (think vegan mac n cheese mmmm…)



Place basil, pine nuts and garlic into a blender. Blend until it looks paste-like

Add salt, pepper, lemon and slowly drizzle in the olive oil on a low setting

Once all in pulse a few times to combine.


Et voila! Get the crisps out and you have yourself a dip!
